The smart water filter
98% of coffee is made up of water. It is just as important that it is of a high quality to guarantee a perfect coffee result. JURA has revolutionized water filtration with the new CLARIS Smart. For the first time, an automatic machine* can permanently communicate with a filter thanks to modern RFID (Radio-frequency Identification) technology. In this way it detects if there is a filter and automatically activates the corresponding mode. It continuously collects information about the use of the filter and warns when its capacity has been depleted. Thanks to these qualities, changing the filter is easier than ever and the CLARIS Smart can apply its full potential.

Suitable for any type of running water
The CLARIS Smart works according to the professional updraft principle and always filters the exact amount of water required for preparation. Thanks to their revolutionary formula, the filter cartridges are perfectly suitable for tap water all over the world. The adapted granules allow lime to be filtered to an always adequate amount (even with low water hardness) and reduce the amount of contaminants with never-before-seen efficiency. However, it maintains all the substances that carry the flavor, such as minerals and fluorides. Thanks to optimal limescale stabilization and efficient filtering of harmful substances, the result is always ideal water quality for a perfect coffee aroma.

Automatic filter detection
To enable dialogue between the filter and the automatic machine, JURA uses modern RFID technology. All Intelligent Water System (IWS®) machines automatically detect when a filter is attached, automatically switch to filter mode and start rinsing. When the filter capacity is running out, the automatic machine will warn about the need to change the filter. If the change is not made, the machine will activate the descaling mode. The requirement to carry out descaling will be displayed depending on the use made of the machine. It can only be done after removing the filter. Thanks to this, incorrect manipulations resulting from misinterpretations are now a thing of the past.
