The enlarged profile of the moon base protects the scale from heat and moisture in shallow drip pans and prevents drip pan edges and splash plates from interfering with the movement of the scale weighing surface.
The polycarbonate outer base also makes it easy to move the scale through the slotted drip trays—an advantage for workflows that involve frequent repositioning of the Lunar.
